Healthy Owensboro

The Junior League of Owensboro has a signature project, a goal or initiative, that lasts 3-5 years.  Many of our yearly events are determined by this signature project.  Starting last year, my provisional year, our signature project is "Healthy Owensboro."  To support this project, an annual 5K was planned.  It ran through downtown Owensboro, a growing area with parks and local businesses.  Our second annual 5K was held just a few weeks ago.  After a lot of hard work, we were blessed with a great turn out.  Runners that pre-registered received a bag full of goodies including a Junior League Health Owensboro 5K dri-fit shirt, gift cards, and toothbrushes.  At the end of the race was an "after-party" that included music, free food, smoothies, free six-packs of bagels, door prizes, and of course, awards for males and females in each age group.  Can't wait until next year...maybe I'll be running! (Ha. Just kidding).
