Westminster Wall Clock, London (UK) Edition

As a new homeowner, receiving decorating and home items to review might be my favorite.  I recently received a clock for free to review and it is SO close to what I wanted anyway.  I love when that happens!

So....my clock looks a little lonely.  I think I probably needed something a little bigger for that space, but I'm certainly not complaining.  I have decided if the clock just needs lowered, or if I'm going to put a few other smaller items up with it.  I think I'm going to need to spend some time on Pinterest.  But anyway, moving on to the actual clock....

The clock itself is beautiful.  The details on it really make it stand out.  The face of the clock is glass, and although it appears to be wood, it's actually a lightweight material that is painted to look like wood.  This is great news for someone like me who doesn't actually know how to use anchors to hang something on the wall.  The directions recommend an anchor to be safe, but it's so lightweight I felt safe without one.

One thing about this clock is it's not a "Purdue clock."  Let me explain.  Although it's proper to write Roman Numeral 4 as IV, if you pay attention, you'll notice many clocks actually have IIII.  I tried to google the reason for this and there are many theories (aesthetic reasons, easier to carve, something about King Louis XIV) but no definite answer.  Most every clock at Purdue has IIII on their clock.  The story I was told while a student there was that IV looked too much like IU and therefore all clocks on campus have IIII instead.  I'm not sure if that's truly the reason but it's a cool story either way!

This clock requires one double A battery, and while the clock does "tick" it's very quiet.  I didn't even notice it when I put the clock up.  The clock is backed by a Lifetime No-Hassle Free Replacement Guarantee.

If you're interested in this clock, you can normally find it here, but I noticed it's currently sold out at the moment.

This review was also supposed to include a Giveaway for a FREE clock, but I'm not sure what that means when the item is sold out on Amazon. I contacted the company to confirm they still had someone for a giveaway and if not, when they would have them back, but I'm waiting to hear back.  Does this clock look like it would fit perfect in your house?  Leave a comment below if you're interested in this clock, and if I turns out they still have them available for a giveaway, I'll randomly pick someone from the comments to receive it! Be sure to leave me your contact information!

UPDATE: I heard back from the company and they WILL be honoring the giveaway, so post below with which room of your house you'd like to hang this clock and I'll pick a winner on Friday!

  3. I actually won another blogger's giveaway contest 7 months ago. It was for a desk lamp. I won, but then had to pay $89 for shipping. Enter me anyway.
